The causes of back pain come in many different forms. You can get back pain from something as simple stretching incorrectly or walking in high heels. One other way people suffer from back pain is because they have a kidney infection. The pain can radiate into the back from this kidney infection.

Symptoms and Other Signs
If you are suffering from an uncomfortable pain in your mid back or lower back and this pain has been going on for a while, you need to go and see your doctor. This could possibly be the sign of a kidney infection or maybe your back has experienced some other trauma.

If your pain is happening with the following, you can be sure that you are suffering from a kidney infection:

Burning during urination – Fever – Nausea – Blood in urine (may not see)

Pain from a kidney infection will be in the areas on both sides of the spine and just above your hips. Most doctors press on these areas to see if you are feeling any sensitivity in these areas. The pain may also creep to the waist area.

A check of the white blood cells in your body, doctors will ask for a urine sample. By testing the white blood cells in your body the doctor can tell if your body is fighting an infection.

Many times you will know that you don’t have a kidney infection because you will know what caused the back pain. You will have had an accident that caused the back pain. If you don’t remember any traumatic event that could have caused your back pain then you may have a kidney infection.

How to treat a kidney infection
How do you get a kidney infection? This will occur when there is a bacteria that enters the bladder and travels to the kidneys. This infection can and will cause you to have lower back pain, plus a host of other symptoms. There are two forms of kidney infections:

Acute – Chronic
Taking antibiotics is the usual form of treatment for a kidney infection. If you wait and don’t receive treatment for a kidney infection you can end up damaging your kidneys. So make sure if you think you may have a kidney infection, see your doctor right away.

For those suffering with a severe case of kidney infection, your doctor may give you a shot of antibiotics along with anti-nausea medication and pain medication. Once the infection goes away the pain in the lower back will subside.

Pain treatment for the lower back
Treating pain from infection will relieve the pain much quicker than treating pain from those caused by trauma. Here are some ways to treat trauma based back pain:

Physical therapy – Topical – Oral pain meds – Heating pads

Rest and extensive treatment is used for pain brought on by:

Herniated discs – Strains -Overdoing exercise – Stretching – Bending improperly – Back spasms

As you can see there is a big difference between pain from trauma and lower back pain from a kidney infection.
